I originally created "The Expectant Collection" for my friends who were pregnant with babies. Soon I realized that these images are for any of us that have something percolating: a creative idea, a new chapter in life, a metamorphosis. With these images I want to provide an anchor point for experiencing peace in the present moment just by being still and gazing into a beautiful creation that is gazing back with a message of trust, surrender, and beauty.
This collection, therefore, is about honoring and holding space for those in transition. While the collection itself is about finding stillness in the present moment so that we can carve out space to experience all that we are capable of creating, in the weeks leading up to my art show showcasing these images, it took on a more specific and imminent role. We are living in interesting, if not tumultuous, times. With this collection I ask you to try to tune out the ever-present political chatter, stories of disunity, and sentiments of fear of the uncertain. Instead be expectant of beauty and kindness. Beauty and kindness are around every corner waiting to be discovered--if we only learn to expect them.
Each of my collections has been inspired by my own personal journey as an artist, flower lover, woman, Contemplative, human being with a wide open broken love-filled heart. My flower photography has been a life line as I search for evidence of beauty, goodness, peace, and stillness in a crazy world. These beautiful curious creatures have smiled back at me as we travel the world and have graciously allowed their portrait to be made. I believe they have their own destinies and are looking for ways to shine beauty and grace into the lives of so many in our world. I invite you to peruse these collections of flowers to see if one in particular is smiling back at you. Love, Regina
