The Embrace Collection took root when I met the ladies from the new Denver chapter of the International Rescue Committee and learned that they would be helping over 60 families relocate to Colorado. I was instantly inspired to donate a large flower portrait for each of the refugee's homes. A piece of beauty and stillness; a housewarming gift that could make their new house a home. I knew I could not do this project alone and hoped to find a way to empower my community & like-hearted people to help.
I see this collection of flower portraits as an opportunity to welcome refugee families with open, trusting, compassionate hearts; to focus on creating community and abundance; to send a different message than our current government's and those who are operating out of a space of fear; and to give others an opportunity to do the same.
Each of my collections has been inspired by my own personal journey as an artist, flower lover, woman, Contemplative, human being with a wide open broken love-filled heart. My flower photography has been a life line as I search for evidence of beauty, goodness, peace, and stillness in a crazy world. These beautiful curious creatures have smiled back at me as we travel the world and have graciously allowed their portrait to be made. I believe they have their own destinies and are looking for ways to shine beauty and grace into the lives of so many in our world. I invite you to peruse these collections of flowers to see if one in particular is smiling back at you. Love, Regina
